Rosman Research Station was originally established by NASA for satellite tracking, and was later given to the National Security Agency for signals intelligence collection from space. Located near Balsam Grove, North Carolina, it is about 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Rosman. It became the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute in 1999 after its closure in 1995.[1]
